5: Policies for Air Pollution
Policies helps pevent and control the existing patterns and keep a check on future developments. Here are few of the policies for Air quality control in India.
The Air-Prevention & control of pollution act, 1981
The Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act was enacted in 1981 by the parliament and it was intended to provide comprehensive legislation for India's main environmental concerns.
The main objectives of the act are:
a. To provide for the prevention, control and reduction of air pollution.
b. To establish boards at the central and state level with a view to implement the act.
c. Confer the power on boards to establish regulations to guarantee that air pollution is under control in the nation.
d. The law also empowers the Boards to take legal action against organizations that don't adhere to the established air quality requirements.
